(Rota, MP) – The Rota Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will host a no-cost Federal Contracting Training on January 13 and January 14, 2026, at the NMC Rota Center, Computer Lab. Both days will offer the same training, allowing participants to select the date that works best for their schedule. The training is designed to help local businesses navigate SAM.gov registration and understand federal contracting requirements. Participants will learn how to properly register their businesses, maintain compliance, and troubleshoot common issues—skills that are critical for companies seeking to compete for government contracts. The training will also help businesses prepare for the upcoming Industry Day on January 29, 2026, where federal contracting opportunities will be highlighted.
Sessions will include a morning group training from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and individual one-on-one support from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. Morning sessions will cover key topics such as the Government Purchase Card (GPC), Section 889 requirements, SAM.gov registration and pre-registration checklists, entering core business data, navigating the registration portal, troubleshooting common issues, and maintaining annual registration. Afternoon sessions will provide personalized support and allow participants to ask questions specific to their business and registration needs.
The training will be led by SSgt Derick Fontyn, a contracting professional with four years of experience and a $5 million warrant, and SSgt Holley Bruske, a Resource Advisor with five years of military financial experience. “This training provides an important opportunity for local businesses to better understand the federal contracting process and take meaningful steps toward becoming procurement-ready,” said Charlene Ogo, Director and Business Advisor of the CNMI SBDC Rota Center. “It also equips businesses with the knowledge and tools to participate confidently in Industry Day and pursue government contracting opportunities.”
