(Saipan, MP) – The CNMI Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network at the Northern Marianas College (NMC) is pleased to announce the opening of its registration period for its sixth cohort of the Women’s Entrepreneurship Project training series scheduled to take place on Friday, October 30, 2026 from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
As experienced in recent natural disaster events Super Typhoon Sinlaku and Super Typhoon Bavi, an extended power outage or flooding can extend far beyond damaged assets and buildings. Businesses may lose access to customers, employees, inventory, equipment, records, communications, and critical supplies – putting livelihoods and the wider community at risk.
To help women prepare for these challenges, the CNMI SBDC, along with government agencies and private sector businesses, have partnered to host “Building Beyond Recovery”, a one-day summit that will feature multiple and diverse presentations and workshops aimed at providing guidance from industry experts, government agencies and experienced meteorologists. Attendees may expect to gain valuable information and insights on preparing for the next disaster and how preparation steps can lead to faster recovery and lasting organizational resilience – long after a disaster strikes.
Seating will be limited to 33 participants this year. Clients who have not been a previous cohort graduate of the annual program will be prioritized. To achieve an optimal learning environment for all registered clients, the training summit will be an age 18 or older event. Attendees must be registered CNMI SBDC clients. A Certificate of Completion will be issued to those who stay for all seven sessions. Participants may attend individual sessions, but will not receive a certificate unless all sessions were completed.
“We know that being prepared is not simply a good business practice – it can make the difference between closing temporarily and being able to recover. We want women entrepreneurs to leave this training with a plan they can actually use before the next storm or emergency, not simply information they put away in a binder,” said Network Director Nadine Deleon Guerrero Kintol.
Stay tuned as we announce the lineup of speakers for this year’s exciting cohort training series.
