(CIIP) — Applications are officially open for the second cohort of the CNMI Innovation Incubator Program, inviting local startups across the Commonwealth to strengthen their businesses and pursue new opportunities for growth and long-term success.
This initiative is designed to help early-stage ventures build stronger foundations, develop their capabilities, refine their strategies, and work toward sustainable growth. Selected participants will have access to expert mentorship, workshops, training, resources, and funding opportunities throughout the year.
Beyond the training and resources provided, participants will have the opportunity to work directly with industry professionals, gain practical knowledge, and connect with other business owners as they navigate the challenges of building and growing a business. The program is designed to encourage participants to apply what they learn, strengthen their business practices, and make informed decisions for the future of their companies.
The second cohort welcomes businesses in innovation, manufacturing and product development, agriculture and food innovation, technology, professional services, arts and culture, and hospitality and service industries.
“Building a successful business takes commitment, passion, and a willingness to keep learning. We want to provide local startups with the guidance, resources, and connections they need to strengthen their foundation and continue moving forward. We are excited to see the ideas and potential that will come from our second cohort and encourage qualified startups to take advantage of this opportunity,” said Cherese T. Palacios, Program Manager of the CNMI Innovation Incubator Program.
The selection process will focus on the potential of each venture and its readiness to grow. Applications will be evaluated based on demand for the product or service, level of innovation, feasibility, clearly defined objectives, sustainability, and commitment to the success of the business.
Who Can Apply
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Have an active business license and have been operating for no more than five years.
- Be a registered CNMI SBDC client or be willing to register.
- Be physically located in the CNMI or have plans to establish operations in the region.
- Comply with applicable local laws and regulations.
- Commit to participating in workshops, mentorship sessions, networking events, and other scheduled activities.
- Submit a well-defined business plan outlining the business model, target market, goals, and growth strategies.
- Demonstrate a willingness to receive feedback and adapt business strategies.
- Have the availability to consistently participate throughout the program.
The program requires an active commitment from selected participants. In addition to attending scheduled activities, participants are expected to dedicate time to developing their ventures, working with mentors, and applying lessons from the program to their businesses.
Required application materials include proof of residency, a valid business license, business plan, tax clearance, an Applicant Budget Sheet, and three vendor quotes for requested resources, supplies, or equipment. Vendor requests will be reviewed based on business needs, program priorities, and available resources.
