Rota SBDC Concludes Successful Virtual Tax Law Seminar Focused on CNMI-Relevant Updates

(Rota, MP) – The Rota Small Business Development Center (SBDC), in partnership with Azarvand Tax Law and the Rota Chamber of Commerce, successfully concluded a no-cost virtual Tax Law Seminar on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the NMC Rota Center, Room A1.

The seminar brought together local business owners, entrepreneurs, and community members seeking clear and timely information on tax law updates with a specific focus on regulations affecting the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). Participants received practical guidance on compliance considerations and recent changes relevant to individuals and small businesses in the CNMI.

The training was led by Tina Azarvand, lead attorney and founder of Azarvand Tax Law, who shared her expertise in federal and state tax matters. Through real-world examples and clear explanations, Azarvand addressed common concerns and questions raised by attendees.

“The training was very informative and focused on tax laws that directly affect the CNMI,” said Charlene Manglona Ogo, Rota SBDC Director and Business Advisor. “Attendees were engaged, and their questions were answered in a way that was directly relevant to their situations.”

Attendees expressed appreciation for the relevance and clarity of the information presented. “This seminar was really helpful,” said attendee Tonica Barcinas. “Tax laws can be confusing, but the information was explained in a way that made it easier to understand.”

The CNMI SBDC Network continues to support entrepreneurs and small businesses throughout the Commonwealth by offering free one-on-one advising, training workshops, and technical assistance. Through continued partnerships and community engagement, the Rota SBDC remains committed to strengthening the local business environment.
